In the hot summer months, we rely on our air conditioners to keep our indoors cool and comfortable. But what if your air conditioner can’t give you cool air when you need it most? What could be the problem with your AC? Should you just throw it away and install a new one? This article looks at the main reasons why your air conditioner could be blowing warm air.
Reasons Why an Air Conditioner Blows Warm Air
Thermostat Problems
If your air conditioner is blowing warm air, the first place to check should be the thermostat. It could have been tampered with by your kids or pets while praying in the house, or someone in your home could have turned it off to avoid the cold air. So before you call your AC technician, make sure the thermostat is set to cool and the fan is set to Auto. Also, make sure the set temperature is lower than the temperature in the air.
Clogged Filters
Every air conditioner has a filter that filters small particles like dust and other impurities found in the air. Unfortunately, this filter can get clogged, preventing air from entering or leaving the system. If the system can’t suck in air, its coils that rely on warm air to function correctly won’t remove heat from the air. Consequently, the fan will just be blowing hot air back into your house. You can avoid this problem by cleaning and replacing your AC’s filter regularly.
Blocked Return Vents
It is important to check if your AC’s vents were closed during winter to keep the cold air out and never re-opened. They could also be blocked by furniture and other fittings in your house. If they are blocked, there won’t be a free flow of air in your house. Therefore, you should inspect all the vents to ensure all registers and returns are open.
Broken or Disconnected Ducts
Sometimes the problem with your air conditioner may be hidden inside your home’s ductwork. For instance, if the ducts are broken or disconnected, the return air will be lost along the way or taken back to the system. The cool air will also get lost in the walls, crawl space, or attic, causing your AC to blow warm air.
Dead Outdoor Unit
If the outdoor is not working correctly, perhaps due to loss of power, blown a fuse, or tripped circuit breaker, the indoor system will continue to blow warm air. If this is the problem, call your air conditioner technician for repair.
We’ve been members with the company for a few years. They are very honest, and have made us a priority on many occasions. We used them in our previous home and current. Very knowledgeable, and we trust them. We never have a worry with our heating and cooling systems because we know they are meticulously maintained by 1-800-plumber. They show up almost immediately when we call for service, and go out of their way to make sure our systems are up and running. We highly recommend this company, and the prices for the work they do are the best around.
Don’t hesitate calling 1800plumbers. These guys are the best of the best. Especially Terry and John. They both did an amazing job and took their time to explain things to me. They went above and beyond. They showed up when they said they were going to show up and got straight to work right away. All I had to do was sit back and relax. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone who needs a plumber
